Some of us are full blown romantics, are all for that soul connection and striving for that passionate relationship but one thing that’s not in fairy tales is the reality of consent. Mutual consent is a serious matter and needs to be practiced by both parties at all times regardless of the situation. So important to teach your children - no matter their age- so they don’t find themselves in a compromising situation. I’ll share another post soon to drive the point home. ... See MoreSee Less

Training with my Kung Fu Brother Brendan from Core Wing Chun. We’ve known each other for nearly 2 decades and we both have been on our seperate journeys until the last couple of years where we both started training together again, pushing buttons and testing each other’s limits. Great to train with people that have no ego, are able to take a hit without retaliation and laugh while training. Keep your Kung Fu family close. They are the ones that teach you not because they are blood but because they have a big heart. Sorry for the lack of action shots. Photos wasn’t what we were thinking while we were training. I am glad we chatted almost 4 years ago now. You have grown in so many ways and are at your most beautiful inside and out. MRI's can be scary. I have been in them a couple of times now. What scared me the most was the dye they use when I had a brain MRI. And yes they did find a brain.....go figure. LOL

You can still be a woman that wants to be loved, respected, be cared for, be given flowers, go out for dinners and have them pay, enjoy physical touch, have your door be opened, be given lots of compliments and yet still feel feminine, independent, strong and not have to depend on anyone to feel protected. Don’t expect anyone else to give the above to you unless you can give the same to yourself first. Become so confident that regardless of other people’s opinions, judgments or beliefs, your foundation will never be compromised. It takes work, patience, grace and love to invest time in yourself to grow inside out and become aligned with your true intentions. A woman in her power knows who she is and doesn’t have to prove anything. A woman in her power is not afraid to be vulnerable, empathic and kind. Being kind and polite have nothing to do with having to compromise your ability to kick ass and defend yourself if you have to. A single women is her own best lover and a taken woman is giving the best and worst to her partner through unconditional love. The women in the #esd workshops always prove how everyone’s journeys are unique and how we all have our own challenges. The power of sharing and learning together is monumental and life changing. We need to share more so we realise we are not alone and discover different ways to deal with life’s obstacles. We all have them. In these case sharing is caring. Thank You Brisbane Youth Service for inviting me to facilitate an 8 hour Empowerment Self Defence and Personal Development Workshop for your young inspiring women who want to make positive changes. We covered breaking through limited mindsets that held them back from believing they are worth defending and standing in their power. These women have been through so much already and still have the courage to show up, be challenged and self reflect. I have heard that the ESD skills have already been used in their own lives and to me that’s a success story. The ability to say No to what does not serve them is a big Yes to accepting only what is right for their higher good. Changes don’t happen overnight but with the right mindset and support we can all make better decisions that serve us. Regardless of your background and hardships we all bare our own burdens but having support and the right encouragement is paramount to get through our challenges. @ Brisbane, Queensland, Australia ... Practicing on the wooden dummy is not about proving how hard you can make contact but being able to use forward energy whilst using correct technique. It should feel seamless, graceful and powerful. Hi. My friends call me Ella. It’s short for Antonella. I’m based in Brisbane and I with Tasha from Maui, Hawaii have been working closely from opposite ends of the world to bring our unique perspectives to subjects like self defence, martial arts and philosophical subjects we believe have to do with becoming a far more enriched human that has the courage to step out of their comfort zones to create a life full of purpose and meaning. You see I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon, luxuries or status. I learnt to speak English at 8, got my psych degree, got married, had 2 babies, divorced and now am making my own happily ever after. I am fiercely independent, stubborn, introverted and live my core values with integrity and loyalty. Not interested in following the crowd or being liked and I know when to get up from the table when love is no longer served. Harsh? Not at all. It’s taken roughly 6 years of internal transformations with an amazing tribe around me to be able to take responsibility and accountability for all my actions and decisions. Playing the victim is against my morality and I will fight tooth and nail to support anyone that wants to rise up from leaving their past behind and wants to create a better life for themselves because they know they are worthy of it. I am in love with what I do and I work tirelessly towards making it my legacy. I believe in a love that is worth taking risks for, is imperfect and doesn’t ask for attention. Most of all I believe in myself and the work I do with Empowerment Self Defence, teaching Wing Chun Kung Fu, Coaching and being the role model for my 2 daughters. I don’t aim for perfection nor easy. I aim for honesty, morals and high standards. Never have high expectations of others unless you can achieve the same. Don’t judge the look. The actions speak louder than words. Not interested in likes and followers. Not interested in identity politics nor your diet. Interested in what you are doing to make this a better world void of malevolence, greed and tyranny. Life is not meant to be easy but you can make choices as to which fight you will fight. ... See MoreSee Less

We want our children to stand up for themselves and be proud that they did everything they could to defend themselves and not feel hopeless and helpless that their gave their power away. “It's been a while since I started thinking about how to connect things I love doing. Since there are many of them, it is a challenge sometimes - especially when it comes to art and Empowerment self defense. Two days ago I had the pleasure to talk with an amazing woman, a friend, mentor and an inspiring ESD instructor Antonella @intuitive_wingchun_and_esd and suddenly (like always when we talk) it all came together. How can I better show ESD than with drawing women that are my huge inspiration and fighters for better world? Of course I need colors. Who do you think will be next? “😏😏😏 .

The physical skills are easy to learn and remember. Asking ourselves where we can be more assertive and empowered takes more practice. For young women and men it’s imperative to have healthy role models they can confide and have a healthy exchange of ideas through conversation. Believing you are worth defending and protecting is easier said than done. Personal development is a huge part of self defence and I love integrating into my classes. Realising that some of us naturally are people pleasers and say ‘yes’ to avoid uncomfortable situations and wanting to change is better than living a life where we put others peoples needs in front of us and living a life of misery and resentment. The ESD classes get the students thinking and start working towards making positive changes in their life. ... See MoreSee Less

Another successful Empowerment Self Defence Workshop with teenagers. They came into the room meek and softly spoken but by the end of it they found their voice, their stance and with a few simple physical techniques they left feeling stronger, confident and more aware. 3 hours of training and they learnt to become aware of sinister and questionable behaviour from friends and signs to be aware of when they get into relationships. Boundary setting needs to be taught at a young age. The reality is it’s not taught well by parents and society. Self defence classes leave you feeling more empowered and less confused because your doubting yourself. The ESD classes are not your typical self defence classes. We talk and share about relevant situations, we practice voice tonality, body stance, verbal de escalation and much more. If 3 hours is all you’re going to do it’s better than nothing. More workshops are always available to build on the basics skills if you’re not going to learn martial arts. ... See MoreSee Less
